Diaries with daily entries, kept by Castieau. The diaries describe life in Beechworth (1856-1858 and 1860-1861) and in Melbourne where he worked for various penal establishments. Letter from V. Watson to Alan Downer of The Herald after Downer's article on Weachurch was published in Sept. 1953. Telegram dated 1880 June 28 from Benalla to Archpriest O'Meare thought to be about Ned Kelly.
